Cristina Carvalheiro
My name is Cristina Carvalheiro. I was born in Coimbra, Portugal and came to the United States at the age of 4. I completed my Undergraduate degree at Rutgers University where I triple majored in English, French and Portuguese. Following the completion of my degree in 1997, I began teaching ESL (English as a Second Language). In 2007, I returned to school to complete a Master’s Degree in Applied Linguistics. Twenty-five years after my first teaching experience, I continue to enjoy my job. I continue to work full-time as an ESL teacher, while teaching Portuguese at ELPU and another Portuguese school in the area. I am currently working on completing my supervisory certification. I am a wife, mother of two and proud Portuguese citizen. I enjoy passing on my love and knowledge of Portuguese culture to all my students.
